The user experience was basically the same. Then ran it on another system, same files, same everything, just a different system with a Ryzen 3700X (8 core, 16 threads CPU) with 32GB of DDR4 memory and samsung EVO SSD.

ON1 tech support say to update your graphics drivers (already updated), and re-install the software. The program installed OK but either froze when opening any type of image (I use mainly Fuji XT2 RAF ) or immediately exited after the splash screen. This summer On1 started to release features that are part of Photo Raw as standalone plugins. I used the demo version of Photo Raw which worked OK, then I purchased 2018.5. Past versions could work as plugins in Lightroom, Photoshop, Capture One Pro, and others external apps.
Their standalone all in one app is Photo Raw with the current version being 2022. I had it installed on an older platform with an AM4 FX8350 (8 core, 4ghz CPU) with 16GB of DDR3 memory on a samsung EVO SSD. On1 is the company that makes photo apps. I tested the user experience of ON on two systems just to see. Give it good hardware and it performs the same as if it were on slower hardware. And it slows even more if you give it huge files or lots of huge files in a folder to look at. Everyone says "slightly faster" and it's not. This has been a long time gripe for everyone for years now. I love ON1's RAW setup and a lot of its other package suite. So it's painfully slow to work though and load an image preview, adjust it in RAW editing, flag it for export then move to the next. And you can't do anything while it's exporting. Switching from one RAW image to the next has a noticeable lag time.

Then, to browse to the drive where your RAW files are, it takes way more time than it should to load each folder for whatever reason even on a SSD (it simply shouldn't, that's software inefficiency or something else, its not hardware limited, that's software routine limited). On (and versions before), if I load up, it stalls because it has to check license (fair, fine, whatever). ON1 Photo RAW 2018.1 is a good alternative for you if you wish to edit your photos, but don’t want to be locked into a subscription. This software should run plenty fine on a mid-tier workstation that is modern (any multi-core CPU with modern architecture, SSD and 16Gb+ of DDR4 RAM). See that's the kind of thing I don't just swallow.
